Upcoming Master Replicas Items?

As far as the pricing.  It wasn't that I was so surprised by a possible price of $2500 Falcon, it was the thought of trying to come up with that amount for essentially what is a plastic model.  A few hundred for a saber or a blaster is one thing, but thousands for these studio scale pieces is another - at least for me.  I'd love to see maybe a 50% studio scale model series done really well say for pricing in the hundreds.  I don't really like the Code 3 models, but I was hoping MR would give us an in between alternative.

Oh, and I for one really miss the TREK offerings.

50% studio scale? After the Snowspeeder, people would burn down MR headquarters methinks...

No, I think not. Geez, they make .45 sabers and folks gobble them up. The problem folks had with the Snow Speeder was it had been touted as Studio Scale and it turned out it wasn't quite that. As long as they give exact scale and dimensions you know exactly what you are getting. Do you really think there isn't a market for a nice smaller scale version of the Star Wars vehicles - done well?

There probably would be a market for 50% scale, but I think there would still be a plethora of people complaining if they didn't have a 1:1 studio scale option. Yes, the mini sabers are popular, but I'm sure there would be plenty of people going psychotic if MR released a mini saber that didn't have a 1:1 counterpart (golds, and other plated minis notwithstanding).

You guys forget one thing - the license.

Hasbro has the license for Star Wars "mini" vehicles and toys, and I believe they own Code 3, which is also in a similar product development line. MR makes props and studio scale stuff. I don't think they could make "Action Fleet-esque" stuff.

That doesn't stop me from daydreaming about a 18" or so Landspeeder, like those amazing Die Cast cars you see... can you imagine how insanely cool that would be?.

Anyone know of MR plans to release Stunt sabers?
From reading the Stunt thread, the company who made the blades could not release any information because one of LucasFilm's license holders had bought the rights.

Would be cool to see...

Moffeaten, I think that has been a wide gray area for some time. I had always thought that Don Post Studios had the exclusive license for any mask from SW, yet during their reign, Rubies were allowed to offer their versions at the same time. Then DP loses theirs and you are told Rubies has the exclusive license for costumes.......but Hasbro is supposed to be able to make the lightsabers............whammo......now Rubies has sabers at the same time as Hasbro.......and then the figure licenses......that was supposed to always be Hasbro for 1/6th scale and 3 3/4" figures.........yet it hasn't stopped other companies from making figures. What underpaid attourney gets that crappy job to sift thru all these licenses and decide who is legal and not legal to make this stuff???? It doesn't even sound to me like anyone's license is protected under LFL. Am I the only one who thinks that???

Dave :)

I've been wondering if they will eventually do chrome plated resin stunt hilts without the blades. From a business point of view, it seems inevitable.

They will soon run out of sabers to do LE versions of, and that's already a limited market by nature. They've learned that they sell a lot more FX and mini sabers because of the price point and the unlimited editions. Plus, when their costumes come out, how many people will feel comfortable hanging a $370 limited edition prop on their belt? Most collectors would buy a $60 resin version in a heartbeat, and leave the high-end one at home in its case.

They could appeal to all of the lower budget fans who had to be very choosy about which LE or EE to buy, and it would still be an authentic replica, even though it's super cheap to mass produce because even the actors wore plated/painted resin hilts a lot of the time.

I think there would be a huge demand for resin sabers, and it would keep them in the saber business for years to come.

MR has announced that they're working on a Aliens Pulse rifle for next year.

Awesome, but I hope they make em in Darth Leada$$ size for me. Time for Weight Watchers .

Any guesses how much the SS Y-Wing will be?

I'm guessing $499--close to the SnowSpeeder.

It's way bigger than the Snowspeeder, just so you know...

and hells yeah, Muppets rule.

Uhh...what are photo replicas? and why do you think animal would come next?

MR have announced that Kermit will be the first in a line of PHOTO PUPPET REPLICAS, and that if successful (naturally), then Animal will be the second release late next year.

PHOTO PUPPET REPLICAS are essentially articulated props that can be posed and are used for photo shoots where the puppets are in situations where their operators cannot easily be concealed, or they simply don't need operators because they're still shoots.

I can't wait for Miss Piggy......

The Muppets don't use real puppets to do their photo shoots, they make special "photo muppets" that are poseable so they don't need to have puppeteers on-set for the shoot. They are "perfect" Muppet characers that are treated with the utmost care so they remain "perfect" for the next photo shoot. (but if you want to, you can probably modify them into real puppets... I know I will.)

Animal being next is directly from the write up in the recent issue of TOYFARE (or was it AFN?).

I know it´s bigger, but here on this board MR said

"Due to the huge size of the model (28 inches long) we are not including a case for it. The case would be GIGANTIC and make the price of the model skyrocket. I think everyone will be surprised at the affordable cost of this one for the size of the model they are getting."

So no display case but very "affordable" ... what ever this means :unsure

By the way: Any rumors about an SS X-Wing?

Muppets: I know that with every item the price is an issue rather to buy something or not, but this is especially the case with the Muppets. I just looove them all :love Problem is: There are sooo many of them ... and I would have to buy every Muppet MR releases :lol

I was wondering if anyone knows if MR plans to do a .45 Skywalker ANH or ESB. I'm pretty sure they're gonna do a Qui Gon cause I've seen that the full sized replica is coming out, but the only other one I really want is the ANH or ESB graflex version.
I ask cause I'm afraid that they've done the Anakin E3 version and they're gonna call it close enough to the others that they won't do the other versions which I prefer by FAR.

If they do, I hope they offer a version sans-autograph, as I'd rather not pay the premium for it.

I would imagine both a Signature and Non will be available, and don't expect a case for that one either.
