It's been a while since I've posted some of my builds and I thought instead of starting a new thread every time I'll just dig out this old one and use it for the purpose. Hopefully, I'll find the time to post more often when I have something new ready or just to dust off some some older builds and take few pictures.
To link this with the Dagobah saber from my last post I'll start with the "companion" blaster to display with it (on some quite improvised stand that was supposed to be just temporary, but ...)
Inspired by this famous picture of Luke :
And for the details I used this one for reference (not sure if it is the same prop that Luke is holding on the picture, but this one has the most detailed reference pictures I could find):
However, for this build I didn't want it to look like a casting, but more like the MGC and live fire ESB DL-44s while still recognizable. So I tied to replicate some of the weathering and the details of the build, except where they were clearly casting defects/artifacts.
It's basically a Blasterfactory aluminum Mauser kit for the base, but with vintage greeblies (v8 and the rubber bumper). I've also modified the scope bracket (and broke it too) and the scope a little (front side, also added real brass ring on the port and on the rear "foot" and vintage flash diffuser for the lenses) to be more accurate to this particular prop.
Here are some more pictures:
I added a little rubber cap instead of filling the scope port like it is on the prop as it is probably just a casting artefact and although it is a small detail I kind of like it more with the cap on, but I also like that it is removable.
