Vader lid experts chime in

At that price it's Christmas come early if this is for real, certainly hope so and it would be great to see photos. :)

Hi everybody,

sorry for the delay, but I just couldn't get that damn helmet off my head... :p

Here's a short summary of my first examination plus some pics:

- size comparison with measurements taken personally from different ESB helmets in the LFL archives in 1995 - a match (although even the measurements of the originals vary slightly from each other)
- photo comparisons with pics taken by myself of original ESB helmets in the LFL archives: many details match, some are missing (again, even the original helmets vary from each other - some have dents on specific spots where others have them not)
- fibreglass pattern, paint scheme, colors: the fibreglass pattern of facemask and helmet is the same and a 100% match with the archive ESB helmets. The ROTJ fibreglass pattern is different. The polyester/epoxy was coloured black, and no primer was used on the helmet, just a coat of black paint, no clearcoat. A perfect match with the screen-used helmets. The gunmetal on the facemask is ok from the color, but it looks like the paint was not mixed properly, and so the paintjob is not perfect.
- the facemask has three intact (casted) tabs on top (I haven't seen them so far, just felt them with my fingers). Additionally, there is a slit behind the middle tab (it's not cut open), where the strap used to be on the ANH mask.

Thanks for your patience and enjoy.

AWESOME ..... You are one lucky guy .... :lol :thumbsup

I've been looking forward to these pics for a long time, thanks very much.

Can you post a couple with the dome off and the inside of the mask when you get a chance and if you are able to seperate the pieces? Thanks.

I don't think he has been trying to take it apart yet... but I could be wrong.

Thanks for pointing that out, edited post to reflect that.

:thumbsup Awesome .... thanks for sharing pics of the score.

Does anyone have the link to the old auction ? Feel free to PM.

Excellent photos, thanks for posting them.

Very happy for you that it did indeed turn out to be a genuine auction, there was a lot of suspicion at the time.

I have separated dome and facemask yesterday. The top of the facemask is perfectly clean, no fibreglass or bondo, as both parts were laminated together with two strips of fibreglass from the inside of the facemask. The dome itself is very lightweight, just like some of the original ESB domes in the archives.

There are three wonderful tabs on top of the faceplate.
