The helmet came primarily finished. Don't know for sure if that the standard way with RA now, I have had the kit in my closet for a few years. The padding was already in the helmet, I'm still considering finding some way to either cover it or colour it a dark grey/black.

Yeah, the black vinyl was the best way I found to get clean even lines. I know the originals were hand painted and cruder but I prefer a more idealized/professional method to my props. As if they were properly mass produced (in their universe) - then beaten to hell.

I replaced the white foam that came in my RA X-Wing helmet with a black, fully-padded liner from a motorcycle helmet. The white foam will pull out pretty easily; it's just anchored with adhesive in a few places.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that a replica of this helmet is on my to do list :lol I've got an APH-6C (the originals were the B varient, only the foam liner and earcups are different). I just need time to make a mohawk and paint it.
