NASA ACES HELMET

Starting another NASA ACES Helmet build. I've included pictures of the first one finished. This helmet is also a print from Wesley Tarr files. I've just started sanding and it's really bringing back some memories of the process. Lots and lots of sanding and filler primer. Fortunately I already have everything this time around to vacuum form the visors.

A bit of progress on the main helmet filler primer and sanding. Still a bit to go.

Assembly instructions show a bracket behind the ear core. I kind of like a clean clutter free look, but I suppose I’ll mount them. They are also on original ACES helmets….hmmm. This is just a couple of light coats of white at this point.

Noticed some areas that have 3D printing issues that I missed on sanding.

Trimming these ridges down and then painting again.

Some more wet sanding to 3000 grit, but I think more is required .

Okay a bit more sanding and I think it’s probably good enough.

Machined out a couple Ear Cores for the helmet. Pretty nice upgrade over the 3D printed parts, but a lot more work too.
