Recasting a Sci-Fi Icon; The Classic Star Trek Communicator

I am kind of hoping that you have to solder it. I learned a lot of new tricks from building a few of the P1 kits up and I hope the comm will have the same great tips.

The Communicator kit will be extremely easy to assemble.
You may have to solder the antenna to the rod, but
both the antenna and the rod will come shaped, and
trimmed. Also, I will be sharing my technique with you,
and I promise you'll likely chuckle when you see how easy it is:)

Thanks-and I'm positive that everyone who gets this kit, will
finally have the Communicator they have always dreamed of.

John, will there be info on adding a stopwatch for a "hero" build? I'd like to get the stopwatch ahead of time if it means having to do some careful buying.

Thanks guys.

As for these being castings, they are...kinda. That is to
say the tooling the replica shells were pulled, or "formed"
over were indeed castings taken from an original set of
screen-used shells. So, the new shells are not castings
of the outside of the real shells, but rather they were
vacuum-formed over a casting of the original bucks taken
directly from the inside of the real shells.

Gotcha. Thanks! :)

John,

Your Trek TOS P1 were worth every penny. I could tell it was quality from the parts to the packaging. I'd encourage anyone who hasn't gotten one to snap it up before the opportunity is gone. The P1 was an exact to the show replica. Nice to see the Comm coming along the same way.

Tom

Where can said P1 be obtained?

I'd only wish John's next project after the comm was the P2 to fit with the P1's I have. I think John plans a few items before the P2. Understandable since the P2 would probably be alot of work, though the parts for the P1 seemed to involve alot of work too. And a fine job John did on the P1 too!!

I've been following the threads for the JL Comms now and I can't wait to get one, any word on when they might be available? :confused

Yea, P2 would be great, but i'll go with anything that John puts out!!!

Hi guys-still working behind the scenes to make this a reality.
I insist on bringing you the most completely authentic re-creation
of the original Communicator prop humanly possible. Lots of stuff
involved in making that happen...

Hopefully this kit will become a reality very soon. I'll keep
you posted.

I say take your time, we have waited 40 years to get this one and I personally would like to see it be the one that ends the quest. :cool

I agree.

I, too, want one of these so bad it hurts, but I also want this to be the last comm I'll ever wish to buy.

Please keep us posted, John... and here's hoping we might all see this released by this spring or summer.

I agree, anything John puts out is a must have. Love the P1! :) I just finished mine and I feel like I'm holding an original prop from the show. Thanks John!
