for those who search for a lightsaber belt clip,i suggest to look for military or police belt clip.

In Episode 1 and i guess 2-3 they used the Covertec cellphone belt clips..

Covertec clips are available in the U.S. from The Custom Saber Shop... if that helps. They also have a D-Ring clip that works with any belt.

Thanks, I found The Custom Saber shop after I ordered my covertecs, the regular ones I ordered came with plastic buttons, which were fine for the plastic sabers we were using for trick-or-treat. I got a metal replacement button from TCSS for my Maglite conversion. I saw they have the D-ring clips but was curious what the prop was originally.

yes but it s far from screen accuracy. nevertheless, it s a secure way not to lose it if your falling down an elevator shaft.

Lenny, you need to be a tad clearer with your post. If you are talking about the Prequel Trilogy then Covertec Clips are indeed screen accurate. If you are talking Original Trilogy the you are talking Saber Hooks, which numerous people, myself included, have designed and debated to death, shape and accuracy have been done to death.

So what is it you are trying to advise everyone to get and what is it that you are saying is far from screen accuracy?

I always wondered what the clip on Vader's belt is in the OT.

If it was a found item, I don't think anyone has found it. Its just a simple metal hook that was riveted on to the belts.

Thanks guys, I didn't realize it was called a Saber Hook.:) :lol until a few years ago I didn't even know the original Sabers were made from found parts. When I was looking for a hook I went to every hardware and big box store I could find but nothing looked similar. I guess I'll be going to TCSS when I do ROTJ Vader.

Just on the subject of saber hooks. If you are looking for non- replica hook the is multi functional with prequel and original trilogy hilts, Parks came up with a nice solution: Belt Clips and Buckles - Parks Sabers - The Most Powerful Sabers In The Known Universe

Also, I've never seen anyone do this but I always thought people could get additional use from their covertec clip with their hilts with d-rings by taking a covertec knob and pop riveting a small hook to it and using it for an adapter.

As far as the origins of Vader's belt hook. There was a theory around here about 15 years ago that it could be a modified vintage shoe horn.

I've used the old cell phone buttons and belt clips, but they are now virtually unavailable. I managed to buy out all of what the last store I could find them in had (only about 5 packs with one belt clip and two buttons). While the belt clips are an issue going forward, a suitable substitute for the button would be an axle cap with the correct diameter to fit into the belt clip. You just drill a hole in the center of the cap and screw it to the saber. The addition of some washers around it's base could be used to mimic the look of a Covertec button. While it's not perfect, I've just used a finish washer.

Edit: Looks like I spoke too soon. A quick search reveals some are available through Amazon (nowadays, what isn't?) and one from Garvin at Walmart.com which features a button that looks more than a bit like the real deal. Apparently they're just not readily available IN stores.

I know these aren't anywhere near screen accurate
image.jpeg,
but I was more interested in security of the saber, while on the belt, & something that could be transferred to other belts easily. I got this one at LOWES for about a buck. Holds the d-ring sabers very securely with that latch. I've read many stories of how the props on set were dropped, by coming off the belt hooks, as the actors ran around. & I definitely don't want that happening to my sabers. With this, when d-ring sabers are clicked in, I don't worry.
I've got a few covertech clips also, & they're great, but I find that my hands are never far from the sabers while they're being worn.
