Disney wants more 'Star Wars' in its theme parks

Chewie is only there because he’s Rey’s pet in the ST…

Took Han’s ride and his dog…

I’m not entirely sure how Rey decided that what was Han’s was now her’s, come to think of it (Han dies and the person he met 5 minutes prior gets the title to the Millennium Falcon? OK.).

Oh well; I’m taking things off-topic.

lmao! f--k 'em.

Well if a venture is a failure, and you can write it off, why not?

It pretty much cements that Disney is NOT going to do anything with the property/hotel now, at least not profit based.

Several of the features on the Galactic Starcruiser were supposed to be part of Galaxy's Edge. There were supposed to be droids roaming around the land, spies and bounty hunters and aliens to interact with. There was even a third attraction planned, where you mounted a large Bantha like creature that would lumber around the edges of the mini-park. One of the biggest problems with Galaxy's Edge is there are kinetics on stage, there's no movement to draw your eye. Everything on display is static.

For the record, Galaxy's Edge and Starcruiser were developed concurrently, and any cuts from Galaxy's Edge were unrelated to the plans for Starcruiser. (The type of interactivity enabled by each of those spaces has very little overlap.) The real culprit for the cuts to Galaxy's Edge was the massive budgetary overages ($1B+) on the Rise of the Resistance attraction. That's when the additional missions for Smuggler's Run were cut, and that's when the live entertainment budget was slashed. (The third attraction had been cancelled slightly earlier than that, but still made it through the blueprint stage.)

So now the plan is to have a Disney themed gated community? What is this? The Truman Show? Corporatized communities sound terrifying. How many sci-fi movies with this idea ended in disaster?

I guess if you can close down your overpriced themed hotel experience and cut 7000 jobs in the process, why not just throw money into another branded real estate opportunity?

This company is soulless.

DisneyHOA: coming (whether you like it or not) to your neighborhood soon....

If Disney was smart, they would keep the Galactic Starcruser building, gut it, and make it a walk-through SW OT area: Bespin interior, Death Star interior, Rebel ANH war-room interior, Hoth Rebel base interior/Wampa cave, ANH Cantina, Jabba's Palace throne room, Emperor's DS throne room, etc...

Since Disney wants to keep Galaxy's Edge as Batuu and ST themed with no OT at all, they could cram a bunch of OT in that huge building and maybe actually draw more SW fans to WDW.
