Indiana Jones 5 officially announced

Making bad content that fails will eventually be a catalyst for change. In fact it's necessary to happen for change to occur. So on one hand yeah crappy films and shows are a bear to put up with but on the other if they keep losing money and failing the way some seem to be very convinced they are, the buck is going to have stop somewhere.

The problem is that it is easy to forget what you are doing when you are too successful.

Serials that inspired IJ were cheap entertainment for kids. They were never intended as serious art or blockbusters.

The fact that the films generated such profit made the industry take itself way too seriously.

In the immortal words of Shatner: you have taken this fun little show and made it into a tremendous waste of time.

But profits drive the uninspired and here we are.

Not to stray too far from the current line of arguing , but I don’t have a problem with Harrison’s age. I don’t necessarily need him beating 25-year-old Nazi’s in 15 minute long street brawls, that’s a bit much, but there is a story that could have been told with him at this stage. It’s a shame this looks so bad.

Just showing some before and after of those who wore the outfit...Who got the part or not. I really loved the character of Garth(Richard Young) in The Last Crusade. Surprised they didn't try to incorporate him somehow into the film...Be thankful for small blessings...lol

Good point, but why not Flannery for instance? He has experience.
I liked Flanery and i loved The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles. I wouldn't want Lucasfilm to use him either...lol. I really wasn't trying to make any point other than i'm glad for small blessings in them NOT using any more characters from the OT. I thought Flanery brought a very different feel to the Indiana Jones character that really appealed to me...I think they really keyed up on his youthful, hopeful outlook and had us experience some life shaping moments for the character...many actually...lol...possibly too many...lol. Richard Young (Garth) to me just really personified the influence of what would become Indiana Jones( taking the good with the bad) and River nailed a younger Indy. It's funny how people have ones they look up to and try to mimic in some ways but discard the things they don't like about them. But isn't that like all of us in some sense? We've had many influences from who we'd like to be like, the qualities i mean, and yet in a desire to be "unique" like Indiana jones we find bits and pieces of ourselves hidden within the character himself just as Indy found bits and pieces of himself in Garth...and of course the Fedora...lol.

Flannery was right for Indy as a teen. He's less of a match as an adult.

It's common with teen actors. Edward Furlong was a perfect John Connor at 13yo (and playing about 11yo). Furlong playing John Connor as an adult? Umm, that's a different story. It works better to hire some other conventional leading-man actor (like Christian Bale) to play the T2 kid as an adult.

While I agree an older Indy more as a mentor figure and focusing more on the adventure and mystery and less on the punching Nazis couldnwork, I dont think anyone at current Lucasfilm has then talent to pull it off.

I would line to see an older Indy being more like his dad in not actively getting into brawls but solving problems and fights through ingenuity to be interesting. I always thought the scene where Connery uses his umbrella to scare the birds to fly into the enemy plane and take it down to be incredibly badass.

I think Jones Sr is too silly for Indy but have him have a sharper mind. Could be a nice callback to Raiders to have the younger actor fighting hand to hand and struggling with an enemy with Indy then just shooting the guy and asking him why not just shoot. I do agree I think its off to have the now 80 year old Ford swinging his whip around now though.

Here is another pic of someone we all know in a Fedora...The look is great and Josh Brolin is a very good Actor that i'm glad Lucasfilm didn't try to recruit....Actually, the more i think about it...He could have pulled it off. Of course there would have been negative buzz about someone else playing Indiana Jones other than Ford(You already know what i think) but to have another actor like Brolin who our generation loves for the most part may have been a better financial decision for them because i think more people would have gone to the theater just to see how well Brolin could do. Hmmm..

Brolin did great playing a younger version of Tommy Lee Jones’ character in MIB 3.

Brolin's a good actor but I don't see him as Indy. You could do worse but they need somebody younger.

The list of good Indy candidates would mostly cross over with good James Bond candidates.

The rule of thumb with Bond is: If you recognize an actor by name (without having to check it on IMDb or google-up images of him), then he is probably too old & established already.

Star Wars ANH was an anomaly. If it wasn't for that, Harrison Ford would have still been "Harrison Who?" when they cast him in 1979/80.

I'm just saying I might have actually decided to go to see Indy 5 if it was Brolin as Indy and a whole different storyline and a whole different Company, along with different writers, producers and CEO's and I don't want to give them my money...that's all...lol...just think, they could have reunited him with Ke Huy Quan from Goonies as Short Stack ( I'm dying laughing...sorry lol)

In fact, what a premise for a Goonies sequel...Brand and Andy's kids are bored over summer vacation and its up to Mom and Dad to provide some summertime fun...with another adventure. With a little inspiration from their kids favorite archeology adventurer movies, they get the band together one last time to make it a summer they'll never forget. It's a hot one, so the crew sets sail to find the Inferno...and all the remaining treasure! Join them as Captain Sloth tries to finally earn his Eagle Scout badge in the process.

" Hey you guys, come join us as we truffle shuffle our way over a rocky road to collect your fifty dollar bill to watch
Goonies 2: A Crusade To Inferno...it's sure to go up in flames!!"
