N7 Helmet from Mass Effect build WIP

Re: N7 Helmet build (was Teaser of a Build. Guess it and win one.)

Volpin, Are you actually announcing that their will be a mold?:rolleyes

I have been keeping these pics private because I'm making them for my Sister in law and Brother in laws, one of which was the music implementer of ME2 so It'll be the best Christmas gift ever.

I would love a trade! I already talked to yoadjammies so now all I have to do is convince EvilFX for an armor trade as well.

Tommy

sneaky sneaky, keeping your flickr stuff private!

This is some stunning work and fantastic detail. You wouldn't happen to be interested in trading a bucket for some other cast resin "pieces" (cough rifle cough) would you?

This helm is looking awesome! I would love to work out a trade or purchase in the future. I had planned to make some of the expansion pack visors to go with my suits but with the whole tree falling in my house incident I had to cut a lot of my plans for D*C short.

You might also want to talk to Yoda and Volpin about using that fancy pants laser cutting machine to make your armor parts with. Cheaters! :lol

Heya..that file doesnt come with build guide instructions on how to build it. Im just passing on what ive been asked to post by my friend who is into Pep.

I'm unaware of such a guide, I have never actually seen a build guide before, I always print the tab numbers out and use the pepakura software while building to find the pieces as I go. sorry.

So I was looking around at Google images of "mass effect helmet" and I have noticed some differencec between the ME1 and ME2 shepard helmets, (it seems the blue suns and eclipse mercs have the old, ME1 style of helmet)
the couple of differences are in the jaw area and the top of the head, the differences are not drastic but I have been comparing any Pepakuras to the ME1 style of helmet. Now my opinion on this is that there are issues with both Skips and 405th member Deadalus Thorns versions, but I am now realizing the latter is based on ME2 shepard's helmet. Until I finish this one, which I started before ME2 was released, I don't want to put more research into the other style of helmet to see how good it really is, but from first glance the 405th's looks way more like ME2 than SKP's.

I will hopefully have some time tonight to work on the jaw chin area as I'm booked for the whole weekend.

Thanks everyone for the encouragement, It always inspires you when you know your heading in the right direction.

Wow!
awesome work Tommy.
you have done an amazing job with the file :)

I think this is only my 2nd post on here, but thought it worth posting.

just to let you know, the 3d model that the pep was made from is actually Biowares model.
so In essence you have made a true to life ME2 helmet.
I just got it out of the game and with the help of Belkor edited it for unfold into Pepakura.

p.s apologies for any necro

thanks, I guess it's all about the bump maps and graphics. I'm gonna try to finish this for christmas still, but it's not looking good, I'll definitely have it finished for ME3s release.

Are you planning on doing LED's for the breather slits?

I actually haven't planned that far ahead, I just need a new propane tank to warm up the garage and get back to work.

I think I will try and lighting it up, I'm currently working with my local Hacker Space on a vacuformer, I'll use it for the visor, but I think that's all for this one as the helmet would be better one cast piece.

Black for the visor? Or do you want to be able to actually "see through it"? My first inclination would be to throw it on my head

I know you're sculpting your helmet and all that. But I found this, so if you decide to do any weapons or decide to do another helmet, you can construct one out of styrene. I know this is for a model of a ST shuttlecraft, but I believe the method is adaptable: Starship Modeler - Beginning Scratchbuilding

thanks for the links, I might try the M8, it looks pretty cool. as for styrene I think there are too many compound curves for styrene, my main issue was the type of clay, If I started over I'd use water-based clay.

No problem. I should point out, there's a problem with the files for the colored papermodel, so you may have to go with the "blank" version. And the PDF is password protected, but its there on the page when you download it.
