Defcon 4 is an okay one.
Yeah I rented that back in the late 80s.

Anyone remember that tv miniseries World War Three? It leads up to nuclear annihilation, but I think it ends with pictures of people going about their business just before the bombs drop.
I always did like "Boy and his Dog."
Threads scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, made The Day After look like an episode of Happy Days.
I suggest 1993's "MATINEE" from Joe Dante, with John Goodman, i always loved this movie! It is a comedy story into the atomic terror background (with some action at the end!).
