ORCA scratch build

This has to be the most impressive Orca

That video has screwed with me. Usually once spring hits, sitting in the office, and a yearly tradition of every day, playing the soundtrack loud in the morning, with hums of lawnmowers in the background, and the freshly cut scent of grass in the air.... for a moment just now, it felt like spring and I was like "I haven't planted the tomatoes yet!"

Hi Flimsy! Glad you’re feeling better!

I was not getting notices of posts here for some reason… hopefully that changes.

As far as the metric system goes, here’s my take (and I use both based on convenience).

Yes, it is “base 10” and therefore “easier”. However, the truth is, many of the prefixes are similar sounding and similarly spelled, which actually adds more confusion and room for error. Granted, the less popular denominations are not often used (double-edge sword there) and major errors can crop up when something is mid-spelled or mid-quoted. I’ve seen this happen.

Now, a “foot” is the length of your foot. Walk heel to toe ten steps and that’s ten feet.

An inch is the length of your thumb from tip to first knuckle. 12 of those equal your foot.

Horse people still measure their animals in “hands” and I presume this is the same in the UK. Guess how big that is?

For decent estimates, such as room volume, I don’t need no stinkin’ meter stick.

The United States will convert solely to the metric system as soon as the UK renounces the Whitworth system.

That is all.

(If you handle a lot of fasteners, you can identify inch/mm by the look of the thread pitch on similar sizes)

Time to bring this back up. Flimzy have you had her in the water yet? Such an awesome build!
Hi sorry I’m still on a project and haven’t had any time, I’ve started gathering nuts and bolts for version 2 and I have found a model boat club near the studio that has a big lake. But until this job ends there won’t be any progress. Sorry but Thankyou for remembering my little boat :)

Oh, I am so with you on that one! Every time I have to do the fine work, I'm always saying to myself, two set of glasses. How many fingers am I holding up?✌ lol

I also found the disasterus footage from the test shoot. when I had to admit my eyes are not what they where. and focus was off and I didn't notice the dust on the lens. also it was so cold everything froze and we didn't get the sun set I wanted.
So this has at least got me looking forward to a prepare shoot soon.

Looks good on camera...yes, this was filmed rather fast I believe;) (love the building/house reflection in the boat's window:oops:).
The boat itself and the movements of the rigging is fairly good. I guess by the look of it you didn't modify the speed.
I'm eager to see other footages for sure! It's never easy to film miniatures as you know better than me:whistle:

I’ve been getting a number of people asking for digital files. At some point in the future after I’ve made all the corrections I can, maybe after version 2 is made, I will release the files on something like CG trader. But when I’m working I don’t get time to spend on my projects so can’t give dates.
