Studio Scale Base Star

It's 12:50 am and I just finished another part for molding.
Dilbertman, if you read through the posts you'll see I stated were around 2-3 months out on this.
Now, I'm off to bed. No need for a relapse :eek

Yes by all means don't work yourself to the point of stress. Stress bad. And keep away from those resin fumes.

Anyway, interested but I doubt it'll be within my budget.
 
No resin here Jay. All off site. I'm just doing the patterns and all the files for laser and water cutting.

As soon as the disks and main tube arrives I will be assembleing the base structure and fitting the panels and related parts. I may be able to shoot some picts to show off :love

Will, thanks for doing the rush order of laser cutting :thumbsup After the fitting I will have the final files for the gussets. All 40 of them :eek

This is starting to be fun again. My friend Don , who I worked on the new Galactica pilot and series with, is doing CG models of the Base Star and other ships from Galactica based on my kit parts and drawings. He does fantastic work. He's been helping me with things for several years. He is a valued frined who I hurt by not telling him my plans for the Base Star kit. We had not planned to do a kit but it seems a shame not to allow people the chance to have one. Sorry Don. I wasn't trying to side step you.

After I saw the real Base Star it changed my mind about the way I looked at it. I would of never known it was so detailed had I not been blessed with the opportunity to survey it. It's paint job was never shown on screen and is a real shame. It is quite a fantastic piece of art. Thankfully, Ed Mirieki was chosen to restore it like he did with the Galactica and others. He does fine work and the Galactica and Base Star are better off because of him.

I haven't actually got it yet. I ordered it a little late, last week. I'm hoping for it's arrival tomorrow or Tuesday.

A mutual friend of ours and I have been looking everything over and it appears to be worthwhile.

I've sent you a PM.

I'm positve I'll find something to do with it? Give me a few days to get everything up and running and I can start helping you with things.

Hey Don. Everyone, this is my partner in crime, Don Bergren. He has helped me out on many fronts with these many projects. We even used the data to make the physical model replicas into CG modles for the NEW Galactica series. Don is making the Base Star based on my drawings and related data. Super nice work that he'll show case one day. He's also doing a very accurate CG model of the Galactica. Together he and I have turned out some real nice things. With out him the Base Star wouldn't of been as far along as it is. I'm doing the work, the drawings, kit research and so on BUT when you run out of money at times and someone like Don helps you get what you need then you owe that person a big thank you.

I will have some progress picts for you to see Don. Just wanted to get the patterns done so you can see what I've been doing in between all the bad stuff that has happened. Maybe you can finish that CG model with this info :love After this project I'm back on the Galactica and a couple of the rag tag fleet ships that you already know about.

I'm glad they have opened up the enrollment. I never knew till today. I guess I should visit the main forum more often :angel Guess I've been too busy in the model forums :lol

One thing you should know about Mark is he's very anal about these things. :)

So expect when it does finally hit it will be the best it could be. Believe me i have enough revisions on my hard drive to build 30 basestars.

Thanks Don :$ But all those revisions to the G and BS drawings made them come out right :)
Nice avatar. I need one for me. Maybe you can do one of the BS for me :D
