Sucker Punch costume thread

Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and I'm going to cosplay as Blondie. So, I already figured out the knee pads, and goggles. But I have nothing else. I'm trying to figure out shoes, arm gloves, shoulder straps, and her main corset/leotard. Unfortunately I'm having a hard time figuring out what to do. I'm trying to make this look exactly like the costume.

Also, does anyone know how to make Sweet Pea's shoulder armor? I'm not sure what it's called.

I got a close-up photo for Blondie so people can try to see what it is, I hope this can help other people too.

For anyone working on SweetPea: I've zipped up my collection of about 65 reference pictures and uploaded them to sendspace here. Feel free to grab it, use it, pass it around -- all the pictures are from publicly available sources online, just gathered into one place.

Does anyone know how I can roll my hair like Amber? I can't find a good reference photo... the best I could find was the statue.

If you browse a few pages back, you see pics of members who already have constructed this piece. Those can give you some ideas.

They have youtubes on how to do Princess Leia's hairbuns. I'm sure they should also have youtubes on something close to this.

Sweet, thanks! Never too many pictures...

I wanted to do it SO badly, just as the costuem she wears at the first moment she starts with the cabaret fantasy. Also cuz I have bought a longer wig than the one I used, so the shorter one would fit perfectly with the "reality" costumes.
But I think of the shiny tights and askdnsjkdnjsa I don't know how to get them or where to get them.

Fishnet Glitter Tights: Black, Pink or White - Accessories & Makeup

I found these, the white/silver coloring could work. Just have to shorten them to thigh high

Hehe I think you got your quotes/responses mixed up. ;) Anyway, checked youtube, but "hair roll" is hard to find. Most results are just how to curl hair with rollers or how to do a french twist. Maybe someone will post a tutorial soon as more people watch the movie.

I actually found a great Amber makeup tutorial, though:
YouTube - Sucker Punch Movie - Amber Inspired Makeup Tutorial

She kind of has a hair roll, but on her blog she said it was all coming undone when she took photos. She hasn't responded yet on how she did her roll.

Depending on how long and thick your hair is, you could back tease it for some volume/texture, then use product to help keep the shape the roll. You'll probably need to use some sort of base to roll your hair around, like a soft foam roller or two. It's a very 1940ish style, so you'd need to look up vintage hair styles.

Hairspray and bobby pins are your friends! Hope this helps.

I've been thinking about this movie a lot over the last few days and the more I think about it the more I like it. We have this theory . . .

*Spoilers Ahead*

What if Sweet Pea and BabyDoll are actually the same girl!

We can all agree that the wiseman was a figment of Babydoll's imagination, yes?

So how is it that he was driving the bus at the end? Same witty quips "and one more thing . . . blah blah blah"

How is it that Sweet Pea sees him if he only exists in Babydoll's mind?

Other correlations:

The movie starts with sweet pea on her bed in her room on stage.
When she first enters the asylum she sees sweet pea on the same exact bed in a set room on a stage. Everything is exactly the same.
Sweet pea is in the lobotomy chair dressed as babydoll when the burlesque fantasy begins and she says something like "wait, this isn't right, babydoll should be in this chair, not me, I'm the star."
Sweet pea has a younger sister for whom she feels responsible for her death.
Babydoll has a younger sister for whom she feels responsible for her death.
Babydoll says it wasn't her story, it was Sweet peas story all along near the end of the film.
The 5th mystery item is . . . herself, she must find her true self. Did she ever not know who she was? Hmmmm

She tells Sweet Pea to go home and tell momma her sister loves her or something to that effect. This is her making amends with her past and accepting her fate, to be lobotomized. The whole scene of Sweet pea escaping, taking the bus and running home to her mother takes place in babydoll's mind after she has been lobotomized.

What do you guys think?

Holy! I didn't even think of this. Sweet Pea could actually be BabyDoll. Since, I've only watched the movie once, I was just trying to take the basics of everything in. I wasn't really paying attention to a lot of major details. And after the movie I was just amazed at how good it was. So, yeah, this could actually be true.

*SPOILER!*
One thing that doesn't seem right though is that yes, Babydoll accidentally killed her little sister, but Sweet Pea didn't do that, Rocket just took her life for her. So, Sweet Pea didn't technically kill her.

Dang I love the movie. I'm hoping to see it again this weekend.

ah, finally a discussion which doesn't involve bashing the hell out of this movie.

It is an interesting theory SoulInertia. It certainly explains why the narrations in the beginning of the movie were done by Sweet Pea. When the two first see each other they seemed to connect in some level.
When sweet pea is in the lobotomy chair though, she doesn't mention babydoll at all. Remember at that part in the fantasy she hasn't met baby doll. She was asking and ranting about how in the world could a lobotomy be sexy?
I like your idea at the end of the bus scene though, with the wise man and all. It does make some sense that baby doll's enlightenment includes sweet peas escape and returning home.

Also, are we sure that Babydoll killed her sister? I thought that she just aimed high and missed, thus shooting the light bulb; and that she was just too late to help her. They only showed that one shot. I always figured that the step dad framed baby doll for her sisters death.

**WARNING**SPOILER**

Yeah, but think about it....SweetPea is who the story is really about. (Even BabyDoll tells her so) I have a further theory: In the beginning, SweetPea is in the lobotomy chair. The Lobotomy is going ON ALL DURING THE MOVIE. That needle is penetrating into SweetPea's brain and as it goes deeper and deeper.... SweetPea's alters (Amber, Rocket, Blondie, BabyDoll) die off, don't they? Needle hits that part of the brain, and they die off. (Symbolism: That racing train getting ready to blow up the city? Looks like that Lobotomy needle racing through her brain. It'll ruin her brain alright...) BabyDoll gives herself up (makes herself go away) to "free" SweetPea. Then, SweetPea finally gets to mentally go home alone - cuz she's the CORE personality, and who's driving the bus? WiseMan (think: Inner Wisdom) Don't we all have that? Some kind of inner wisdom?
I dig that Guy! I am making his Cap Pin: here are some works in progress!

Interesting.
The only problem I have with these theories about Rocket, Amber, and Blondie being alters or not existing is that after the lobotomy; Madam Gorski goes on to tell her how much of a handful baby doll was. Going on to say that during her stay, they've lost three girls and helped one escape.

and that hat pin is looking awesome!

Just to go on a tangent, has anyone identified what kind of hat the Wise Man has on during the World War fight scene?

**SPOILING CONTINUES**

Thank you, ES! I am enjoying the weensy details in making that thing!

Okay ... I don't remember Gorsky saying they lost three girls...I remember her saying she helped one escape...but I seriously don't think there is a connection. Also, I am kinda wondering in an off-hand way...if Blue actually killed the missing girl. Did he kill her and then say BD helped her escape? Eh. I know that's reading too much into that, but The orderlies with him said they didn't want to keep hurting the girls...Blue was super creepy, anyway, and capable of lots of stuff. Here's another thought: Remember Amber was told by the other girls that the "Mayor" was "hers" ... different alters probably handled different men who were sexually molesting and abusing her.

Geez! It's so deep...I gotta see it again!

I wanna get a helicopter helmet and paint AMBER on it....been all over the 'net!! Anybody got any ideas? I don't have $300 to spend on a real one!!

I kinda figured C, but I just feel so compelled to make it! It means a lot to me - honoring my own WiseMan kinda....I like all his trite "isms".

...and one more thing....

I found out that "Ich Dien" means "I serve" in German. In Welsh, "Eich Dyn" means "Your Man". What I don't get is why a Welsh regiment soldier-guy would be fighting AGAINST nazi-steampunk-germans, but have german words "Ich Dien" on his hat pin...?

Enlighten me! And I'm gonna work on this pin until 3 a.m.! lol!

My hair is about mid-back and pretty thick. It also holds a curl pretty well. But my daily routine is wash face, brush hair, and go. I'm hair/makeup retarded, so when I try to figure out how to do my hair, it's a hot mess.

That does help, though! I have a friend who does hair so maybe I can gather other reference pics and ask him for help. :)

"Ich Dein" is their regimental motto. The reason it was chosen, some 600 years before World War I is obscure.

I was looking for better pics of the Wise Man's hat and I found this pic. I know someone was looking for a better pic of Babydolls sparkly outfit.

Hm'm....maybe Welsh folks spoke German back then? It still seems weird. Let's say I was an American Soldier fighting against a legion of... aliens from Mars...I sure wouldn't have "I serve" written on my pin on my cap in MARTIAN language. (I decided not to politically-correctly mention real persons in a current war...)

Anyway, off to whittle clay in microscopic porportions. I really want that hat, too. I am hoping to find one in that color of green. If not, maybe I can do a dye/paint job on it.

Although this is supposed to be a British officers cap it appears they may have used an American WWII Army Officer's cap with British insignia. Probably just faster and easier to get.
