Zen's Master Chief, Halo 3

When I met Abby DarkStar, I knew about her fondness for Halo. All things Halo. When I found out that she was planning a female Master Chief of her own design, it only made sense to do Master Chief. I have only played Halo 3, so that was the one I wanted to do.

This costume is really only made possible because of the many friends that I have in the Halo costuming world. The costume as a whole was provided by Brandon McClain and it is a hybrid of various people's work who have given him permission to make copies.

The majority of it is done in expandable foam and painted in acrylics. The back and helmet are done in resin.

I need to make some mods, but this is what I have so far as seen at SDCC 2012

Wow. That whole team is incredible. I like the female 117; she makes a nice addition as the Spartan that really stands out, but even the full suits are believable. It's nice to see Spartan armor that fits its wearer completely.

That looks like one of Trax's M7's you are holding in the 2nd picture - though I cant be sure, I was distracted by the femChief - lol

Nice work Abby if you read this

expandable foam? like in expanding foam out of a can? or EVA foam?

anyhow, if i hadnt read it, id say it looks like resin all the way

The SMGs were a loaner. So I am not certain of the maker.

Like as in Smooth On self skinning foam

My 9yo. nephew started playing the first Halo at a friend's house so now he loves it (though he doesn't know he can't play the new ones). He wanted to see if anyone here made a Halo costume. So your post came up on the search. We got to the picture with Abby's costume and he said "Was that in the game?" I told him it was just a female version. He said "Are parts missing?" I said no and he said that it doesn't make sense because she would get shot too easy and get cold on snowy planets. Then he said that "maybe she will do a better version next time." :lol

Hahahahaha out of the mouths of children. Word has it that the makers of the armor realize that designing female spartan armor in this manner would be a benefit. They added in 3 shield generators (back ups) and a hologram unit to project the image that we see of the armor. Apparently it actually covers everything (although I haven't been able to turn the hologram off).

The benefits for the wearer is the point of distraction. Other players and apparently even small children are easily distracted by this armor alteration thus giving the wearer an opportunity to take advantage of the dazed and confused enemy.

Thanks everyone! I truly am lucky that my boyfriend dressed up for me! This project couldn't have happened without the awesome members of the 405th that are my friends, timecon , Sean Bradley, Johnny!

As to my armor- I will be doing a full suit one of these days. Hope to make it entirely myself this time.

And ships- tell your son that the female spartan is SO awesome that she doesn't worried about getting hit bc she knows how to use her bubble shields and long range weapons. PLUS if she gets close to enemies, they think she is weak bc of her tummy showing and then she uses her melee on them.

What type of expandable foams did you use to inject into your molds/forms?

The costume was pretty much made by Brandon McClain, so I would have to ask him specifically which foam he used. He uses a lot of Smooth On but the specific one I am not sure. I can ask though
