Embarrassing. The one time I did it was to see this Dan Arkoyd/Rosie O'Donnel "comedy." The film sucked. I'm surprised it was released after the lambasting we gave it. Why do you ask?
but back to Yamato... just introduced my 7 year old son to the Star Blazers DVDs this week and made a new fan. Will hope an English subbed version gets sent here!!!
IMDb lists it as a user rated 7.4 of 10. They've also listed a few more countries it will be playing in:
Country Date
Hong Kong 22 March 2010 (Hong Kong International Film and Television Market)
Japan 1 December 2010
Brazil 31 December 2010
Taiwan 31 December 2010
Singapore 17 March 2011
I work for a Japanese owned company and one of my coworkers who talks with his family back in Japan said the film is very good but not great. The main complaint people have is the actor that plays Kodai is kinda flat but other than that most people are raving about how, over all, the film is a "worthy experience." If we don't see it in the USA in theaters we should see it on disk.
Problem with them waiting too long, it will be downloadable long before any legal chance to watch it and hardcore fans in other countries are going to find it that way. That's just the reality. I think they need to consider that and should have treated this like an international product.
Hell some American movies open in foriegn countries sooner then here!
Oh, and for those that read the trivia section on IMDb listings - this one totally gives away the ending so if you don't want it ruined then don't read the trivia section.
