Alleged Screen Used Hero TOS Phaser up for auction (now the aftermath)

Looks like a replica to me. Note the straight sides on the view screen. Like a rectangle with rounded corners. Not slightly curved sides like a vintage tv screen.
We should look at a side pic to determine if the screen is genuine or not. That pic does nothing for us to examine the curvature of said screen;)

It has a slight curvature like the screens on the DST's if it wasn't for that style of display it would be pretty convincing

It was a joke: "real fakes"? Get the oxymoron in this?
Well if they ARE real fakes, then they would be real........

Of course not.
I think the funniest thing the owner of said phaser told me was:

"Greg Jein has examined more screen used phaser than you have so you don't know what you're talking about"

I just have a hard time taking some serious when they get like that

This one is screen used. Seriously. I mean, you're looking at a screen, aren't you?
So, I weather it up, and *poof* I sell it for enough to get a used Corvette! Is that a cool plan?

Has anyone done overlapping line drawings of all TOS phasers?
There have been drawings done of various phasers using screen caps from the episodes. I believe that was done for the hero phasers

I have no idea what you mean. Unless it is my avatar, which I know is a replica.
I was making a joke about fakes of a fake being real...... It's clear they would be really fake as they weren't based on originals

I see...
It is disturbing to note that some of us here, could make a hero, midgrade or background, and age it, and pass it off as screenused. Might fool most experts
Oh man, I could totally do that. But I'd have to spend the better part of a year on research, contacting glue specialists, sub contracting metal work, purchasing vintage wire & connectors (from antique shops selling 60's telephones & electrical junk), and getting era specific paint. In the end, I'd spend thousands of dollars and thousands of hours. All for one payday that would not actually set me up for life?
Not worth it.
